Hello people who care to read,
I had mentioned that I had dragged R to the Wedding Expo last week, on Thursday and Saturday to give him an eye-opener on what a wedding preparation is really like. Because he thinks preparing a few months prior to the wedding wouldn't hurt. You....
Anyway, on Thursday night at the expo, we went to Lab Bridal Couture's booth. We spoke to Kak Eriyana who was ever so patient and nice to explain the bridal packages they offer. I was more interested on the andaman and decor. She told us that this year, due to many requests from BTBs, Lab Bridal decided to create an economical package. For decor, it is priced at $2,800 and for decor + food, they have it at $12,800 only. That's quite a steal actually! R and I contemplated over this package because (here's the best part) they give Tiffany chairs inside the package too! And chandeliers. Should look grand enough right? We went to Kak Yana again on Saturday night to let her review the package should we decide to take them. Again, Kak Yana was so nice and not pushy at all. She told us that she don't encourage us young couples to go against our budget just for the wedding and then be in debt later. I have already warned R against taking up any loans. If we're gonna have a simple wedding, then please, be it.
Another nice lady that struck me was from Padi Bridal. I can't recall her name but she and her partner were so...hyper! They were so excited to show me pictures of the decor and the baju and make-up. Like I mean, really excitedly giggling & all. Aku dah macam...... "Oh we're very excited and happy for our customers whenever we show them our stuff. We feel very happy for them and it's our passion to be in this industry." Alright ladies, I surely can feel your passion, which was good by the way! I liked their particular decor named Gardens of Paradise. Gitu. But it's over our budget leh for the decor...about $6K plus. Bridal is about $2908. Still they were nice and sampai boss pun turun padang to explain that their dais concept is one of a kind. No one couple will have the same theme because the boss wants it that way. Interesting.
Ratu Weddings was one of the vendors I had wanted to visit on Thursday after liaising with Kak Nora Sahari. However, I couldn't find their booth on that night but managed to find to do so on the Saturday. I also couldn't find Kak Nora Sahari but Kak Nooriel explained the bridal package with us. All the MUAs pretty seh. How like that, I low self-esteem. Lol. Kak Nooriel advised against a nikah on Friday night as per what R wanted, because with majlis on both sides the following two days, that would make our whole wedding a 3-day event. We are going to be battered and torn. Now, most of the vendors advised us to take a 3-4 pasang baju because of the 2-day event. One for nikah, sanding, the next day another 2 more untuk memperagakan fesyen mempelai. Lol. Theirs is a total of $2900. Still a little costly for us, even after the $100 cut from expo price. Then again, Ratu Weddings is an established brand afterall.
Signature Bridal & Photography had one of the most chillax customer service. I didn't jot down her name but she's a chinese lady (I suppose Signature is run by Chinese but their MUAs are Malays). Their decor are just what I want to, English and Garden, with Tiffany chairs. R loved Signature for 1000 pax for food and decor is $18388 nett. Alright now I'm confused seeing these 3 prices, $11888, $12388 & $18388. Signature is our 2nd choice for decor for their flexibility in adapting to customers' needs. We love exercising flexibility! That's the only exercise we ever do! Ok dah Nisa.
Moving on, since Nov or was it Dec's wedding expo, my parents were set on Charisma Bridal & Catering because

Moving on, since Nov or was it Dec's wedding expo, my parents were set on Charisma Bridal & Catering because
- It's all under one roof (tinggal cuci tangan)
- Near our house (it's at Joo Chiat)
- Quite affordable (according to my parents' budget)
It's about $17000 for 1000 pax that we're looking at. But after seeing the place and space, we feel that it would suit R's number of pax better since he will only be inviting about 300. It's cosy, neat and clean cut. Something both of us would like. Free shuttle bus for invitees some more! Too bad also, the date for girls side is fully booked but there's still availability for R's side. Not sure if he'll be taking this but with his number of pax, it shouldn't be a problem doing it anywhere.
Long-windedness aside, hope that we can work out an affordable package price with our potential vendors. Ameen.
Next up, my venue post.
